March 12, 2009

Greetings Dear Praying Friends,

Thank you for praying!!!! : )  My last update seemed a bit overwhelming to some, but I want you to know that by God's grace I am actually feeling quite positive about ministry out here!!!  : )  The family whose son committed suicide, as of my last conversation with the mother on March 6th, is now having devotions together.  Mrs. W said her children really seem to want to learn.  We discussed the possibility of having them involved in a youth group.  She was to get back to me about that.  She has gone back to work for the postal service and is keeping very busy.

"Alv" is a cousin to the boy who committed suicide and was having a very hard time with his death in my last update.  The Saturday after I returned from my CA trip we got together to talk and pray.  She had been asking why God took her cousin but could not get an answer so her anger towards God grew.  In our time God directed me to share there is a difference between what God does and what He allows.  Her cousin was listening to the wrong voices and made a decision to give up on life.  God allowed him to make that decision.  God had tried to speak to him but he had given himself over to the enemy in a number of ways.  After that her face lightened and that awful burden fell off her and has stayed off.  She is now trying to get all her credits to graduate this spring with the goal in mind to attend Indian Bible College in Flagstaff, AZ this fall.  She is facing some discouragement from her parents for various reasons.  She fell behind in English last semester and needs to make it up and is having a tough time doing it.  She would appreciate prayer.

Sarah left on her trip to CA right after I returned from mine.  She was trying to get away from the heaviness of the darkness here.  She ran right into problems with her extended family that left her very deeply hurt and disappointed to the place she was feeling like dying again.  I have been gently trying to help her see that we cannot get our deepest needs met in people, it is the Lord's healing love we need to learn how to receive.  She sounded much better at last Tuesday's Bible study. : )  In her work with Juvenile Probation she occasionally picks up youth who need to do community work service and works with them at a project site.  She wants to start bringing them over here to help with outside work.  That would be great for help here and for making contact with youth.  Pray that her supervisor will approve having the kids work here. : )

A year ago this month is when a school teacher's horse almost died.  This horse is boarded across the road from where I live.  As a result of my efforts to help with the horse I have had opportunities to share my faith with the owner.  I had a really great opportunity recently when we went horseback riding together.  My feeling is she is starting to think more deeply about what I'm sharing with her.  She has a strong Catholic background so I continue to stress salvation by faith alone along with Galatians 2:21. : )

In January our mission, AIMI, accepted a new gal to help me in working with youth here. : )  We had some time together and both felt like we would be a good team. : )  She has a counseling degree and has used horses to help troubled youth open up.  She is now working on building a support team.

The pastor who started the church I have been attending for the past two years resigned with his last Sunday March 1st.  Since the youth pastor decided not to restart youth group in the fall the church has not had a youth ministry.  Now there is some talk of having a youth group again during the Sunday morning service.  The interim pastor coming is really not one the youth like to listen to at all.  He has filled in during the past two summers and both times the youth quit coming.  So, this would be a good move to have something for them during that time and I would like to do it!!!!  : )  They are praying about who will do it.

Our mission's financial man is going out on deputation April and May.  We have been informed that there will not be any receipts for donations mailed out during those months.  Donations will be deposited by a gal who will volunteer to do that much.  Thank you and God bless you for your prayers and financial support as God enables and directs you!!!!!!  : )

Prayer Requests:

1.  For the W family to know how to help their kids grow in Christ;
2.  "Alv" in her English make up work to graduate this spring;
3.  Sarah to long to know the Lord's healing love;
4.  The school teacher's salvation;
5.  The church's decision about a youth group.

"I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"  Gal. 2:21
