April 3, 2009

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

For two Sundays now a friend and I have been teaching the youth during the morning service.  Last Sunday I focused in on some of Jesus' last teachings before His arrest.  His warnings were for us to be ready for His return and I added to be ready to meet Him should we die at any moment as has happened recently to some youth here.  I am so grateful for the salvation Jesus purchased with His death, burial and resurrection for all who trust in Him. : )

As Easter approaches it is my prayer for Sarah that the Lord continue to heal and protect her heart and give her a renewed purpose for living.  The 15th of April is the actual anniversary of her daughter's death.  Three years ago that was the night before Easter.  Thank you for praying for her!!!!

Thank you for praying for "Alv" to get caught up on her studies!!!  She's really been trying and is still hopeful of graduating this spring.  There was a serious accident at her home last Saturday.  Her father works on vehicles at the home site and sometimes has his sons work with him.  He was working on a truck then took a quick break to the house when the truck caught on fire.  His youngest son was under the truck at the time.  He was drug out by his brother but not before he sustained some burns to his back and stomach area requiring skin grafting.  His throat was also damaged but he was able to talk some on Wednesday.  Wednesday evening "Alv" and "Clar" with their siblings went to Albuquerque to see their little brother and join their dad and mom.  "Z" was to have surgery on Thursday.  As you might expect their father has struggled with guilt!!!  He has a history of turning to alcohol under very stressful times but so far has not done that for which "Clar" really praises her dad for.  The majority of their immediate family are Christians and their dad has made a real effort to lead his family in devotions and going to church.  Their mom, a good friend of mine, is really down.  I'm told she's very close to "Z."

I would appreciate prayer for my study and practice of Parelli Natural Horsemanship.  I am currently working on the steps for flying lead changes and beginning collection.  I need to be very disciplined in my own body to enable my horse to do what she needs to in her body.  Very challenging.

Thank you for your prayers for me and the people here!!!  If you felt prompted to pray for me more specifically yesterday afternoon there may have been a good reason for it!!!!  The speed limit on I-40 is 75mph.  I was traveling around that heading east in the passing lane about 200 yards behind a semi that was passing a very slow moving long motorhome with a car in tow.  After the semi passed him, the driver of the motorhome turns across my lane to head for the dirt turn around in the median!!!!!  Immediately I hit my brakes as hard as I could but that sinking pit knowing I'm not going to be able to stop in time hit me!!!  In that moment I heard clearly in my head, "take evasive action!"  The car in tow was still in the slow lane as I turned to my right to try to get around it.  With tires squealing in the turn I missed the car by about three feet as I went onto the curb.  I glanced down at my speed which was still around 45mph and thanked the Lord for keeping me upright!!!  I drive a good size white truck with a white camper shell so I should have been visible.  The adrenalin rush from that experience stayed with me for quite a long time as I kept asking the Lord to help me get rid of it.  Outside of wanting to help others in their walk with the Lord and seeing more people come to Christ I believe I am ready to meet Him.  But until it is my time there is a very strong survival instinct at work!!!! : )

Prayer Requests:

1.  Wisdom in teaching the youth and ladies' Bible studies;
2.  Healing for "Alv's" little brother "Z";
3.  "Alv" to be able to get her studies caught up for graduation;
4.  Sarah to have renewed faith and purpose for living;
5.  God's enabling grace and blessing in my PNH study and practice;
6.  Salvation and deliverance from the bondage of alcohol for many here.

Praise for God's gracious protection!!!  Praise for His gracious provision through those of you He has enabled and guided!!!  May we all be found faithful and looking to Jesus!!!!  : )

In His Care,

Tobie Keiser
