Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, “but we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

The First Ten Weeks In the Womb
8 days after conception • the fertilized ovum implants into the lining of the uterus.
3 weeks • the heart begins pumping blood throughout the body and the brain begins to divide into three primary sections.
4 weeks • arms and legs take shape.
5 weeks • permanent organs begin to appear. The ears, hands, and wrists begin taking form.
6 weeks • the brain begins emitting waves which register on an EEG. The heartbeat can be heard. The young embryo responds reflexively and may be able to feel pain.
8 weeks • every organ is present and in place. Ninety percent of structures found in an adult can be found in the tiny embryo.
10 weeks • fingernails, toenails, and unique fingerprints all begin to appear.
This is what the Lord says, “Do what is just and right. Rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed. Do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place.”
Jeremiah 22:3 niv
When does life become life?
At the moment of fertilization is when a new and unique human being comes into existence with its own distinct genetic code. Twenty-three chromosomes from the mother and twenty-three chromosomes from the father combine to result in a brand new and totally unique genetic combination. Whereas the heart, lungs, and hair of a woman all share the same genetic code, her unborn child, from the moment of fertilization, has a separate genetic code that is all its own. There is enough information in this tiny zygote to control human growth and development for the rest of its life.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes say my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:13-16 niv
